- Poems can be submitted on any topic or theme.
- Entries should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc format).
- Each poem must be saved in a separate Microsoft Word document.
- Entrants must be 18 years or over at the time of entry.
- Poems are judged anonymously and therefore the competitor’s name must not appear on the poem.
- Poems must be received by midnight (UK time) on 14th November 2017.
- Entries are £5 each or 3 poems for £10.
- Winners cannot receive more than one prize.
- Poems should have a title.
- Poems should not exceed 40 lines, excluding title.
- Poems should be typed in a clear font, 12pt, black ink, single spaced, except between stanzas.
- Entries must be in English.
- There is no restriction on the number of poems entered by one applicant provided the correct entry fee is paid.
- Poems must be the original work of the entrant and should not have previously been published or self-published online or in print. They should not have been broadcast, accepted for publication, or currently entered into another competition.
- Copyright remains with the author but writeabridge reserves the right to have entries published on our website/online or in an anthology, performed at festivals, on TV, radio, stage, conferences, or used for publicity purposes at any stage in the future.
- Each poem must be typed on one side of plain A4 paper.
- Entries can only be submitted online and not by post.
- Any entries that do not comply with the rules will be disqualified but money cannot be returned for disqualified entries.
- Please keep a copy of your poem as entries cannot be returned.
- Alterations to poems cannot be made once entered.
- The competition organisers reserve the right to change the judging panel at any time and without notice.
- The competition organisers reserve the right not to award prizes if this action is justified.
- The competition organisers reserve the right to change the competition timeframes and/or prizes if necessary.
- Email or telephone confirmation of receipt of entries cannot be given.
- writeabridge are unable to confirm the content of documents submitted, so please ensure you send the correct documents.
- The judges’ decision is final and neither the judges nor writeabridge will enter into any correspondence.
- Any volunteers/judges associated with the running of the competition may not enter it.
- Winners will be announced and their poems published on this website on Sunday 26th November 2017.
- Prizes must be claimed within two months of the winners being announced.
